Cosy, Spooky & a Little Bit Magical
Halloween has officially arrived at our house — and this year, I’ve gone all in on cosy spooky vibes with a touch of Hogwarts-inspired magic. Skeletons, spell books, and black cats have taken over, and honestly… I’m not mad about it!
As I sit here with a cup of coffee and a pumpkin candle flickering away, I can’t help but smile. Decorating for the seasons is one of my favourite ways to make our home feel warm and inviting, and this year’s theme might just be my favourite yet.
🎃 The Porch — A Wicked Welcome

Our front porch has been transformed into a little witchy wonderland! A cauldron-ready witch greets guests alongside glowing pumpkins, cobweb-draped ghosts, and my “Wicked Witches” sign that always makes me grin. I’ve added a black leaf garland around the beams and a few floating ghosts for a bit of eerie fun.
We don’t get trick-or-treaters out here as we’re quite tucked away, but I still like to spread a bit of Halloween cheer. I leave out little treats for our lovely delivery drivers — they always seem to appreciate a spooky surprise when dropping off parcels!
☠️ Skeleton Steve & the Spooky Nook
Inside, Skeleton Steve has made himself at home in our window seat — a space that feels a little like the Hogwarts common room this year. There’s a magical mix of pumpkins, potion bottles, spell books, and even a Sorting Hat perched nearby. I’ve added a wand brought back from Harry Potter’s Wizarding World in Universal Studios, autumn leaves, and my skull wreath to pull it all together. It’s the perfect spot for a cosy coffee or for Sophia to sit and read her Halloween books.

🏠 Spooky Touches Throughout
Every corner of our home got a little Halloween sprinkle — from black lace runners and creepy-crawly spiders draped over mirrors, to pumpkins of all sizes tucked onto shelves and beside our log burner. Our dresser has had a festive makeover too, filled with witches, pumpkins, and little “boo crew” gnomes that make me smile every time I walk past.
Even the living room got a spooky glow-up — bats flying across the walls, a garland of autumn leaves and black florals draped across the beam, and a mix of real and faux pumpkins creating a rustic, cosy feel. I’ve been playing a looping Halloween village scene on the TV, which makes the whole space feel like a living postcard from “Spooky Lane.

🕯️ Cosy Moments Ahead
With Sophia’s first half term wrapped up, we’re officially heading into a week of memory-making — pumpkin picking, movie nights, baking, and (of course) lots of hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows.
We’ll also be hosting our annual “Tucker’s Not So Scary” Halloween get-together with family — a fun tradition that’s become one of our favourite nights of the year. It always ties in perfectly with our local carnival night, so it turns into a double celebration filled with laughter, lights, and plenty of spooky treats! 🎃✨
It’s these simple moments that make the season feel so special. The decorations may look spooky, but the feeling in our home is pure warmth and joy — and that’s the real magic of autumn. 🍁🖤
Tell me… do you decorate your home for Halloween too? Are you more “cosy pumpkins” or “haunted house” vibes? I’d love to know in the comments below!
