Somewhere between the hot sweats, the brain fog, and the unexpected bursts of emotion, something in me shifted.
I realised I was exhausted from trying to meet everyone else’s expectations — of how I should look, behave, feel, and show up.
Perimenopause has been a rollercoaster, yes. But it’s also been a wake-up call — one that’s taught me the beauty of letting go.
🌿 The Pressures We Carry
As women, we spend so much of our lives trying to tick invisible boxes.
Be kind but not weak.
Be confident but not “too much.”
Be natural — but make sure you still look effortlessly polished.
Social media doesn’t help. The endless highlight reels and filters can make us believe there’s a “right” way to age, a “perfect” body to maintain, or a “glow” we’re somehow missing.
But somewhere along my perimenopause journey, I hit a wall… and decided I just don’t care anymore.
Not in a negative, defeated way — but in a liberated one.
💚 Things I No Longer Care About
🚫 Meeting unrealistic standards from social media
I’m done comparing my real life to someone else’s filtered one.
🚫 Saying yes when I’m exhausted
My time and energy are precious — “no” has become an act of self-respect.
🚫 Pretending I’m fine when I’m not
It’s okay to admit when things feel heavy. Vulnerability connects us.
🚫 Keeping quiet about menopause
If we don’t talk about it, we keep the stigma alive — and I’m done with that.
🚫 Trying to please everyone
Because when you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one — least of all yourself.
🌸 What I Care About Now
💚 Resting when I need to
Rest isn’t lazy — it’s recovery.
💚 Laughing through the chaos
Because sometimes all you can do is laugh at the madness of it all (preferably with a good coffee in hand).
💚 Supporting other women
We’re stronger when we share our stories and lift each other up.
💚 Self-care without guilt
Whether it’s a quiet facial, a fresh set of nails, or a candlelit bath — I now see self-care as survival, not luxury.
💚 Feeling good in my own skin
Confidence isn’t about perfection; it’s about comfort.
“the real glow up doesn’t come from a serum – it comes from self-acceptance”
✨ The Freedom of Letting Go
There’s something magical about reaching a stage of life where you realise that half the things you used to worry about don’t really matter.
It’s the kind of glow-up that doesn’t come from a serum or a filter — it comes from self-acceptance.
Perimenopause may have brought its fair share of challenges, but it’s also brought perspective, strength, and a deeper appreciation for what truly matters.
