Countdown to Magic: Getting Ready for Our Disney Holiday!

The countdown is well and truly on—our big Disney holiday is just around the corner! 🏰✨
As I sit and write this with Minnie ears by my side and a suitcase half-packed behind me, the mix of excitement, chaos and pure Disney joy is definitely setting in.

It’s not just any trip—it’s our magical summer escape to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios Florida, and we’re so ready for it. Well… mentally we’re ready. Physically, it’s a work in progress!

✨ DisneyBounds, But Make It Magical

If you know me, you know I don’t do Disney half-heartedly. I DisneyBound. That means themed outfits inspired by my favourite characters (without full costume) and I’ve taken it up a notch for this trip. Think R2D2, Rapunzel, Snow White, Jasmine, Gus Gus and Lucifer, even a cheeky Luigi and Harry Potter look for Universal. I’ve had so much fun planning looks that are heat-appropriate, fun, and still totally wearable.

Even better, my daughter is bounding with me. We’ve planned mummy-and-me looks and she’s all in—she’s even been practising her princess poses in the mirror!

đź’… Holiday Prep: Shed Style

Now, during this Disney prep, I’m juggling getting myself holiday-ready and fitting in as many Pamper Shed clients as possible before I close for our break. It’s been a whirlwind of lashes, nails, brows, facials, and toes in The Shed—everybody wants to be summer-ready, and I absolutely love that energy!

But it doesn’t stop there… I’ve also got five other women in my family to get prepped before we go! Nails, toes, lashes—you name it, I’m on it. Even Sophia wants in on the action, so I’ll be painting her nails with lacquer and adding some adorable Disney nail stickers so she can feel part of the glam squad too. ✨

It’s hectic. It’s beautiful. It’s slightly bonkers. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

🧴 Beauty & Skincare for Florida Sunshine

As a beauty therapist—and someone with dry, perimenopausal skin—I’m definitely being mindful of how I prep my skin for that Florida heat. I’m squeezing in a dermaplaning facial for that glowy-smooth base, keeping my skincare light but hydrating, and packing the SPF like it’s my job.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Shed-style send-off without some epic nail art! I’ll be creating a set of nails where each one features a different character—because choosing just one is impossible. It’s become a bit of a tradition for me now, and I love having a tiny piece of each fandom at my fingertips. I’ll be sure to share photos, including some of my favourite Disney-inspired sets from past trips. ✨🎨

There’s something special about doing your own pre-holiday prep after pampering everyone else—it’s like a little moment of calm in the Disney-fuelled storm.

🍿 Allergy-Safe Travel Planning

Travelling as a coeliac and allergy-aware family takes a bit of prep—and with Sophia’s peanut allergy, it’s something we take very seriously. We’ve informed the airline ahead of time and have her EpiPens easily accessible for the flight, with spares safely packed in our luggage just in case. She’ll also be wearing her dedicated allergy alert bracelet throughout the trip so others are clearly aware of her allergy.

I’ve already been researching allergy-friendly dining options in the parks (Disney are brilliant with allergies—huge relief!), and I’ve packed a stash of safe snacks to keep everyone fuelled and happy. Our essentials kit includes wipes, medications, and a clearly printed allergy action plan too.

Being prepared means we can truly relax and enjoy the food and the fun—without the stress.

🎬 Countdown Traditions

To build the excitement, we’ve been watching classic Disney movies, planning our park must-dos , and ticking off our countdown calendar each day. It’s such a magical way to build the anticipation—and to keep Sophia from asking “How many more sleeps?” every five minutes.

As we’re travelling as a huge party of 12 (a.k.a. The Disney Dozen), we’re also having a dedicated family takeaway night to go over plans, itineraries, and make sure everyone gets to add what’s on their personal Disney wish list. From must-ride attractions to snack stops and character meet-and-greets, it’s a great way to make sure the trip has a little magic for everyone.

🎒 My Park Bag Essentials

Here’s what’s making the cut for our park bags:

Having the right kit makes the day so much smoother—especially with a little one in tow.

Mini fans & cooling towels – absolute lifesavers in that Florida heat

SPF 50 (face and body) – top-ups throughout the day are a must

Reusable water bottles – staying hydrated is a non-negotiable

Ponchos – for those inevitable late-afternoon downpours

Zip-lock bags – perfect for storing wet ponchos, leftover snacks, or any damp clothes from those little accidents Sophia might have

Snacks & allergy-safe treats – always on hand to keep energy (and spirits!) high

Mini first aid kit – including plasters, antihistamines, wipes

EpiPens for Sophia – always close by and easy to access

Sunglasses & hat – shade and sun protection are key

MagicBands, Minnie ears & a whole lot of patience – because it’s Disney, and magic takes planning!

đź’ Final Thoughts: Embracing the Chaos

Prepping for a big Disney holiday isn’t exactly relaxing, but it’s full of excitement and those little memory-making moments I know we’ll look back on and smile. From matching our ears to prepping the whole glam squad, it’s a labour of love—and worth every second.

I’ll be sharing the magic on Instagram while we’re away, so come follow along over @thepampershed and see our Disney dreams come to life.

Here’s to sunshine, snacks, and all the sparkle ✨
